Why was I referred to physical therapy?

Doctors may refer patients to physical therapy after surgery for rehabilitation or because of chronic pain associated with a movement dysfunction. Odds are that your difficulty with moving parts of your body—such as the pain you experience in your low back when you bend down or the discomfort you feel when sleeping on your shoulder— results in limitations in your daily activities, such as difficulty getting out of a chair, inability to play the sport you love, or trouble with chasing your kids around the backyard. Physical therapists treat these movement dysfunctions and their pain and restore your body’s ability to move in a normal manner.

How long will I need physical therapy?

This isn’t an easy question to answer, as every body and injury is different. You may need a few visits or you may need several months of treatment, depending upon your condition. Your doctor and physical therapist will evaluate and advise you on how long you should receive treatment.

Who pays for my treatment?

In most cases, health insurance will cover your treatment. View our general list of accepted insurance carriers, and if you have questions or concerns about your coverage, please call the number on the back of your insurance card. Typically you do not need a doctor’s referral for your visit, but your insurance company may require one. Please call the number on the back of your insurance card prior to your visit to see if a referral is required. You can also call (949) 276-5401 or visit our front desk staff before your first appointment, and we’ll be happy to review your benefits with you. Cash plans are also available.

Do I need a referral?

Nope! Patients in California are able to be evaluated and treated by a physical therapist without first obtaining a physician’s referral under legislation called “Direct Access,” or what we in the office lovingly refer to as #FastPassPT. Thanks to the passing of this policy in 2014, you can now come directly into Rausch Physical Therapy at any time for any aches, pains, sprains, etc. This expedites your treatment (studies show that immediate care for most injuries can reduce healing time) and saves you time and money. Of course, there are some injuries that do require a doctor’s exam and treatment, which is why we work closely with the absolute best physicians in our area.

Who will be treating me?

At some physical therapy clinics, you’ll be treated by someone different each visit. Not at Rausch Physical Therapy! Here, you will be evaluated by and receive treatment from the same member of our expert team of licensed physical therapists every time you visit us. We feel it’s important to develop and nurture that one-on-one relationship with you to maintain high-quality care throughout the duration of your rehabilitation. Your personal physical therapist is going to understand your body best, and she/he is the one who will be by your side working together to get you better, faster.

Testimonials

I’ve had pre-op PT ahead of hip replacement surgery and am now 2 months in post-op. Dr. Camery Cano has been excellent throughout: knowledgeable, empathetic, attentive, and encouraging. The entire staff and the vibe at the Laguna Niguel studio is very positive. They have all contributed most positively to my recovery. Insurance (Medicare and Blue Shield) has been processed quickly and seamlessly. Highly recommend!

The best PTs. The best people come here to get better. I get better when I follow the rules and do what she says. When I don’t, I get hurt again. It’s the way it goes, I guess. I highly recommend this place to anyone who needs some PT.

I went from waking up every morning in excruciating shoulder pain after hurting myself weight lifting. Thanks to Jonathan – I’m glad to say that I’m able to live a pain-free life and do the activities I love. I can’t thank Jonathan and the rest of the team enough – their knowledge, compassion, and enthusiasm really put them over the top. After multiple visits to orthopedic physicians, multiple scans, and other physical therapists, I was scared I was going to be left to live a life with one shoulder and lots of pain. Again, I can’t thank the team here enough. Thank you!

I have been in 3 different local Physical Therapy for various injuries over the past 4 years.  While this has helped, it was not until I came to Rausch PT in Dana Point that I felt that I had experienced the full benefits of great physical therapy.  All of the therapists have been wonderful, but it’s the attention to the whole body and not just one foot, ankle, or knee that I have experienced incredible improvement. I love the personal, one-on-one time that the PTs give at every visit. They recommended that I try a Stretch Fix session, and I am so glad I did! My stretch therapist was very knowledgeable and talked me through each stretch as he performed them. They were intense but never painful, and I felt absolutely amazing at the end of each session.  The mobility and tension release last me well beyond a week and I can’t wait to go back again.

Thank you for helping me regain my mobility and active life back.

I had the best 4 month experience I could’ve asked for. Since day one, the team took beautiful care of me with great attentiveness and professionalism. My PT, Clay, went above and beyond for me to recover and get back to 100%, nothing less. He was educative, took his time, and was always very intentional with my weekly progressions. His assistant, Brisa, was always so sweet and encouraging. I always looked forward to working with her.
I enjoyed being in the environment the Rausch PT team created. Everyone is so friendly and inviting, and you can tell they truly enjoy working with one another. Leaving is bittersweet and I’m forever grateful for the care I received there.

I’ve just completed my prescribed sessions with Rausch Physical Therapy in Dana Point. I can’t say enough about the excellent care I received. Dr Ruth was my lead therapist. She prescribed a protocol that took me from barely able to raise my arm due to a torn rotator cuff to, as of today, swimming free style with no pain. By the way I was on track for surgery which seems to no longer be necessary. Many thanks to Dr Ruth and all of the staff who worked so diligently with a lot of kindness care.

Dr. Rebecca has changed my life. I was suffering with horrible sciatica, hip and pelvic pain for 2 years. After 1 session with her and now a couple of weeks later, I have been pain free. I can sleep!
She is also very kind, gentle, and sweet. Amazing lady.
