Why was I referred to physical therapy?
Doctors may refer patients to physical therapy after surgery for rehabilitation or because of chronic pain associated with a movement dysfunction. Odds are that your difficulty with moving parts of your body—such as the pain you experience in your low back when you bend down or the discomfort you feel when sleeping on your shoulder— results in limitations in your daily activities, such as difficulty getting out of a chair, inability to play the sport you love, or trouble with chasing your kids around the backyard. Physical therapists treat these movement dysfunctions and their pain and restore your body’s ability to move in a normal manner.
How long will I need physical therapy?
This isn’t an easy question to answer, as every body and injury is different. You may need a few visits or you may need several months of treatment, depending upon your condition. Your doctor and physical therapist will evaluate and advise you on how long you should receive treatment.
Who pays for my treatment?
In most cases, health insurance will cover your treatment. View our general list of accepted insurance carriers, and if you have questions or concerns about your coverage, please call the number on the back of your insurance card. Typically you do not need a doctor’s referral for your visit, but your insurance company may require one. Please call the number on the back of your insurance card prior to your visit to see if a referral is required. You can also call (949) 276-5401 or visit our front desk staff before your first appointment, and we’ll be happy to review your benefits with you. Cash plans are also available.
Do I need a referral?
Nope! Patients in California are able to be evaluated and treated by a physical therapist without first obtaining a physician’s referral under legislation called “Direct Access,” or what we in the office lovingly refer to as #FastPassPT. Thanks to the passing of this policy in 2014, you can now come directly into Rausch Physical Therapy at any time for any aches, pains, sprains, etc. This expedites your treatment (studies show that immediate care for most injuries can reduce healing time) and saves you time and money. Of course, there are some injuries that do require a doctor’s exam and treatment, which is why we work closely with the absolute best physicians in our area.
Who will be treating me?
At some physical therapy clinics, you’ll be treated by someone different each visit. Not at Rausch Physical Therapy! Here, you will be evaluated by and receive treatment from the same member of our expert team of licensed physical therapists every time you visit us. We feel it’s important to develop and nurture that one-on-one relationship with you to maintain high-quality care throughout the duration of your rehabilitation. Your personal physical therapist is going to understand your body best, and she/he is the one who will be by your side working together to get you better, faster.
