Get To Know Clay

Clay was born and raised in Orange County and has been surfing up and down the California coast since he was seven years old. A former competitive swimmer and water polo player, he was ranked among the top 25 sprinters in Southern California in 2012, giving him firsthand insight into the demands placed on athletes’ shoulders and upper bodies. Rehabilitating his own rotator cuff tear and watching his grandfather progress through aquatic physical therapy inspired him to pursue a career in physical therapy. Clay earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from California State University San Marcos and went on to complete his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree at the University of St. Augustine in North San Diego before joining Rausch Physical Therapy & Sport Performance in 2022. He specializes in manual therapy and enjoys helping surfers and active individuals recover from orthopedic injuries, improve mobility, and return to the sports and outdoor activities they love. When he’s not in the clinic, you can find Clay at a local beach break or in the mountains learning to rock climb with friends.
